Trusts can avoid probate and guardianship or conservatorship, but they don’t avoid paperwork.  Assets in the trust must be transferred when the grantor or trustor dies.  Government offices, taxes, life insurance companies and retirement plans will need to be given the information necessary to ensure a smooth transition.
